Today on the Rabbit Report Mike said both Nagy and Johnston are going to be on their show Wednesday. I believe Mike said they will be on during the 4PM hour.

That is correct!  He did say in the four o'clock hour.

Other NCAA Divisions and NAIA schools will also be annoucing their late signings. Probably earlier in the show?

The signings are on the SDSU website. Men add 2 recruits while the women add 1.

Will someone who can listen to the coaches on the radio today please give details. I would be interested in hearing about these new recruits, we all pretty much knew about Cam Hornby(but I'm glad its confirmed) but the Berte signing is interesting, he must bring something to the table for Nagy to sign him. A lot of size coming in next year
            6-10 Engen
            6-10 Bilitz
            6-8 Berte

Here's a link to Bertay's Community College team.

I'm guessing maybe this kid has potential but more importantly gives us a little depth down low.

Berte is a little slim (6'8" 215) but that Indian Hills team is always very athletic. Hornby looks like an amazing scorer who just needs to add to his defensive skills (according to everything I could find in a google search for him).

I would imagine that given our guard needs, Hornby will step in and play right away, and since he's a juco transfer so will Berte. Engen and Bilitz look like probable redshirts. Does that sound right?

Coach Nagy said a few months ago that Engen and Bilitz will redshirt.

There must be some problem with the feed.  I can only hear Craig and Mike...talk about a nightmare

Hey Mike, when you get done with your show can you provide a rundown??

I got the same thing. Heard the other person every once in a while, but didn't get much information. Anyone else hear this on the radio, and can provide what Johnston/Nagy said?

                          Re: Late signing period

Did Nagy indicate if they were done recruiting for the spring signing period. Usually 15 on the roster and if Green is indeed gone they would have room for at least one more. Some players they had targeted may have not gotten the offer they were looking for. I wonder where the Kansas City area guys the Jacks were looking at are going.

                            Re: Late signing period

I did listen to Mike and Craig and even took notes, unfortunately I left them at work when I left for home.

Aaron was first and was pleased with the signing of Meier. He stated she was a good fit for the team and will help on the perimeter. It's great to get someone with her size to help on the perimeter!

Scott was happy as well with both signings. He noted the Canadian game was not as intense as here in the States which might be an area Cam can improve upon once practice starts. Gotta love his website and his ability to market himself. Berte should bring athleticism and a defensive presence which is much needed in the post. Mike/Craig, can't tell them apart, asked Scott to compare him to a current/previous player. Scott would compare him to Andy Cone perhaps a little taller and a little more athletic.

Unfortunately I cant remember if Scott or Aaron were looking to sign any others. Aaron did mention that it would be great to sign an athletic 6'3" post player. ;D ;D

Can't wait for BBball season to start! Maybe we should start a countdown to Midnight Madness thread.

                              Re: Late signing period

I listened to the interview with Nagy this afternoon. He sounded pretty happy with the recruits, really talked up Berte alot. He said he is a very athletic player and should help alot on defense. Sounds like the player wasn't actively recruited by many schools because he was hurt for most of the season and didn't play in many games, hence the low averages for his stats. Said they had an assistant coach at a few of the community college practices, and were very happy to land the player.

Nagy also had alot of positives to say about Engen, said he liked his presence in the middle and that he had 3 or 4 triple-doubles with blocks this school year. I believe he also said he made 2nd team all-state in Minnesota, which basically makes him a top 10 player from the state. Like the earlier person posted, it sounds like both the 6'10" kids are expected to redshirt to give them a chance to put on some muscle.

He didn't have alot to say about Hornby, other than that the kid loves the game of basketball and is a gym rat. Said the game is a little more laid back in Canada but that he should be able to adjust. The way Nagy was talking, sounded like he could get some playing time next year.

Nagy then talked a bit about Gilbert and Cadwell and said his players were looking forward to having them contribute next year.

He said they still planned to sign another player or two. I would assume one of the players is Yackley, although with him being a possible walk-on I don't know if they actually consider that a signing. Any thoughts on other players? I know there was talk earlier about possibly a guard from KC.
