In the moment I was super annoyed that the replay didn't show the entire play, as I to thought catch, but then a few moments later the cameras showed him getting several "good try" pats in the back from teammates (nor did he act much like he got robbed) so I figured it mustve been pretty obvious he didn't maintain control.

You do realize there's much more that goes into the process of a catch than what a still photo shows, correct?

      • It seems that the Marker game took a toll on the Bison. Starting safety Sam Jung and backup QB Cole Payton are both out for the season with shoulder injuries. They really have to hope that Cam stays healthy from here on out.

It's a potential catch at that point because he has not stepped out of bounds before securing the ball yet. But he doesn't keep control of the ball through the ground which is a requirement in college just like in the NFL, right? Obviously this would have been pretty much a game-winning play so I really, really wanted it to be a catch but it just wasn't.

I looked at the ref eyeballing down the out of bounds sideline, and low an behold there was a big Bison player standing directly on the line in front of him blocking his view, this is a huge factor in my opinion, that and the ref didn't move to see the play , but not being there, maybe it happened too quick for the ref to catch the play in real time (first pic). No way that ref could make the call, both refs in the pic actually, maybe it was another ref, where was he(?) Oops see him now, he was right there , (last pic) , but he wasn't in the best position either to see past the defenders feet obstructing his view maybe too. It was a bad call regardless in my opinion, that one call changed the entire outcome of the game, and the refs did a very poor job positioning themselves for a good view of the play, all three of them.

Whether it was a catch or not is secondary to me at this point. The fact that it wasn't reviewed, when multiple plays were for NDSU earlier in the game, is what's frustrating.

Here's some food for thought -- if the Jacks had the replay official they had for the Marker Game this year in the game versus the 'cats in 2023, the Jacks likely lose on the "TD" originally called on the field.

I guess I'd like to see the conference, if not the entire subdivision, standardize replay reviews, minimum number of camera angles (particularly for nationally-televised games), etc.

I agree that the frustrating part wasn't the call itself, well I do wish it had been a catch, but the fact that they didn't review it. We had some other opportunities that we missed on. Hopefully we piss pound the pups and are able to play NDSU again in the playoffs. How many times have we beat them in the regular season only to have our season end at their hands? It would be great to return the favor. Go Jacks!

Yes!! I'm going to make sooo much noise tomorrow evening when 'Yotes are on offense.

I'm also going to root for them vs Bison, b/c I want Jacks playing them again in Brookings, so please don't think less of me

No worries about that. I couldn't think less of you.
