  • End of the Year

Wow, what a year! Trying to make a commitment and try to be more active here as the team and program deserve it.

I felt so confident going in to that game that it didn't even feel right. I felt like everything was so set up that there was no way we could lose this game. We just had to put the final piece on building the program to this championship. Right before the game I took a look around and once I confirmed that we outnumbered them as fans, I looked at my buddy and said "it's over, we are going to smash them!" The shocking part is I actually don't think we played that great. Of course, we played pretty well but I'm just thinking about how much worse it could have been. Seeing them try to run the ball in the 4th when they were down big and essentially give up was icing on the cake.

The team is loaded with talent and the amount coming back is sickening. Other teams must literally be shaking their head.
Underrated parts of winning this game and random thoughts imo:
    1. John O Brian handled Waege- This was my biggest match up concern going in the game as presumably Waege was much healthier, and O'Brian struggled in the first half of the first game. Huge game for him, he looked outstanding.
    2. Caleb Sanders is an absolute beast- Yes, we have lots of depth and talent returning but his presence will be greatly missed. The guy gets hurt and hobbles off (not laying on the field like a soccer player) the field. Can't put any weight on it for a few series yet goes back to the locker room for some good ol Toradol and a tape job and then right back into the game. Tough as nails and the desired to win a championship. Extra shout out to Heinz for playing with a broken foot and Freeman with a torn biceps (despite all the bison excuses on their injuries)
    3. Amar took the next step and continues to develop. Having two running backs that can ball out is the best for everyone. As good as Isaiah Davis is, having a running mate is the best for him and his future (hopefully in the NFL).
    4. I think our corners were the biggest improvement of the year. Malik, Dyshawn, Beanum and Arrell all played really well this season.
    5. Punting was great for field position. did they ever actually field one and did it ever net less than 50 yards?
    6. Lujan called a great game- He did this for a majority of the year minus a few head scratchers. The pistol formation call when backed up into the endzone at Iowa is the one on the top of my head. He will continue to get better with experience.

My prediction, Stig hangs it up and rides off into the sunset. Coach Rogers takes control of the team chuck full of talent. We will have to fight off a few NIL/portal transfer issues to keep all of our pieces. Picking up the ISU Dline transfer was a great get. We might be able to pick up another guy or two that could really help the team. We need to capitalize on the momentum and continue to recruit at a high level. I'm excited for Bok to be back and would like for him to win the Buchanan.

Tucker is impossible to replace for how he opens up the offense. Hopefully Heins comes back to balance out his loss. Stalbird's flexibility to be able to play safety against teams like Montana State and NDSU will be missed. Sanders unblockableness will need to be picked up by the rest of the DL that no doubt has the talent to do it.

My hope is that the fan support continues to build and support the program. I challenge all of us current fans to find ways to help.

    Go Jacks! Buck the Fison
