Douglass earns preseason All-America honor
South Dakota State University kicker Parker Douglass has been named to the NCAA Division I-AA Preseason All-America Third Team by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Douglass, who will enter his junior season with the Jackrabbits this fall, was named a third-team All-American by both the Football Gazette and The Sports Network following a record-breaking season in 2005. The Columbus, Neb., native set a school record with 99 points by a kicker, connecting on 19-of-26 field goal tries. His average of 1.9 field goals per game would have led Division I-AA if SDSU had completed its transition from Division II.
The Jackrabbits will report to fall camp on Sunday, with Media Day activities scheduled for Aug. 9. SDSU, 6-5 a season ago with a 3-2 mark in the Great West Football Conference, opens the season Sept. 2 by hosting Wisconsin-La Crosse.
