JMU fan here. Congrats on making College Game Day. Be loud, be proud, and have a great time. You are representing all of FCS on Saturday. And, please, no matter what else you do, pound the smelly Bison into the turf!

Hello Chamber members!
As I’m sure you all have heard, this Saturday our community will be hosting ESPN’s College GameDay! This is SO HUGE for this town. Millions of dollars will be spent on marketing that our community will directly benefit from. And, if ESPN has a good experience, they are more likely to come back in years to come. So, PLEASE help me in spreading the word of what the community has going (below)!

This morning, the Chamber, CVB, City and SDSU met to form a unified plan for our community to show up in full force. I will share some of those ideas below, but also please be aware that the best thing this community can do for the thousands visiting our community this weekend is a great customer/community experience. Whether it’s a smile at the register, opening a door for a stranger, a wave at a stoplight – let’s show this nation just how wonderful we are. And, if your business is looking to get some exposure and want to invest some $$ to do so, our Chamber/CVB have some great ideas that are going to require a little mula to make them happen. Let’s partner!

If you’d like to go above and beyond, here are a few ways you, your business and your team can do so:

• Gear Up Your Business!
  • Paint your windows (BLUE!) to show your support
  • Treat this weekend like a Hobo Day on steroids – the stadium is sold out and we are expecting thousands others to come out for the excitement. Food establishments/gas stations will be VERY busy – consider ways to make your customer service experience extra quick and friendly.
  
  
• Gear Up Your Yard!
• Replace your porch light with a blue lightbulb
• Set out your Jacks signage/flags/etc.
• Visit local retailers to update your Jacks wardrobe
• Wear blue from head to toe throughout the week! For the actual GameDay on Saturday, stick to blue gear instead of yellow to avoid misrepresentation (NDSU’s colors are yellow and green).
• Use the hashtags #BringTheBlue, #JackrabbitChallenge, #SDState, #DakotaMarker, and #brookingssd in support of this amazing event! Take a photo in your gear, show us a photo of your decked-home, or send a video by including the hashtags above!
• Tag @CollegeGameDay, @SouthDakotaStateUniversity on Facebook, for Twitter use @CollegeGameDay and @SDState
• Update your Facebook cover photo with the #BringTheBlue photo (coming soon!)
• Gear Up Yourself!
• Gear Up Your Social!

Things the City/Chamber/CVB/University needs that you might be able to help with:

• Jackrabbit décor for a Thursday night event (you’ll get these items back)
• Volunteers – we aren’t sure exactly what we’ll need help with just yet, but we’ll put you or your group to work!
• Be active on social media using the above hashtags/sharing our posts/tagging friends, etc.
