Anybody know why we tried this with 12 seconds remaining instead of kicking it as far to the other end of the field as we could. They could of got 3 points there with only 12 seconds left , it wasn't that far of an attempt after they got the 29 yard completion.Just fortunate we blocked the kick.We don't have a kicker to do that, even if Carlson couldn't?We should get one.

Try to kill clock without giving up a big return. A decent squib wouldn't have given ISU enough time to get into FG range and attempt the kick. Obviously that didn't work out, but squibing it was a good call.

If Worrum doesn't fall down on his own on that deep pass?
If Weineke doesn't break the tackle and score on our deep pass.
If Brown makes that 2nd interception?

            If, If, If...

            One great thing.

I went and read ISU's board, just to see what they are saying about us.
And while some were complimentary, a number of them gave the refs the blame (of course), and a number of disparraging remarks about the announcers... And how there is no replay at CAS, and how few people were there...

I found it hilarious, that near the end... a couple of them thought that they should go to a "platoon" qb system, to give Roberson some more rest, and to just get in a different groove, occasionally. One of them even said something along the lines that "SDSU has shown it can work". Oh my word. Funny stuff.
Or if the officials rule that Lally stole the ball from their receiver before he was down on ISU's last scoring drive. By the way, what did that play look like on TV ? Couldn't really tell on the stadium replay but someone at the game said they got a text from people watching on TV that said it should have been ruled a turnover.

Stig took the blame for that call. He said the special teams coach called for a long kick but he over-ruled the call.

Can't we have a game where everything goes perfectly for once,no controversial decisions to rack your brain over ....geeez!,,.Attempt at lighthearted humor.

You mean as opposed to having enough time from their own 25 instead?I know you didn't mean it that way,but as far as returning the kick for a touchdown....don't we take that risk every time we kick off?Oh well, we won I'm happy....was just wondering why is all.

I agree. He is so amazing on the run. I hope we stick with him so we can start molding our offense around him for the next 3 years. We normally don't have roll out passes, and with TC at the helm, plays like that would be a great fit. Also, just spreading the offense out in general, which then spreads the defense out and gives TC holes to run to if he chooses. Very excited about the way he played today.

Attendance 9081, which is very impressive for a November game. I trust our success will continue next week and the following week and we end with a 9-2 record.

One last observation, then I'll give it a rest. It's just a given that EVERY play, decision, gesture, slip , fall, dropped pass,TO, QB used, punt,FG,what the uniforms look like, how the students behaved, standing vs sitting, etc, etc, etc will be heavily, and most of the time overly analyzed and second guessed....it's who we are,......j/k I think the over all mood however,is one of happiness .....thank you dear Lord. Can't wait till the next game to do it all again....

Was a turnover. Except it wasn't because the refs didn't call it. Definitely was not down when the ball got ripped out.

Considering that they had less than 8,000 at their last MVFC home game, this is precious stuff...

The kicker was Sam Koob (sp?), and he was in because Carlson was not able to go in. Second, he was supposed to kick it like a regular squib kick, and instead it pulled right into the gut of an up front guy. While I'm not as good a coach as the rest of you, I believe the idea was to make sure they didn't have a long kick return and instead have a long way to march down the field. I won't go into the two point try discussion, as we have plenty of other experts available to second-guess the decisions. I assume the coaches just draw a number out of a hat.

Finally, and I know I should probably have skipped making this post, CAS was as loud and sustained as I have heard it this year. I don't care what the TV sounded like, or what the announcers said, I was there. And if somebody else who was there want to post they thought it was quiet...do it, but if you weren't there, how about listening to those who were there.

Great crowd, great and impressive win against a very good team, outstanding defense, Lujan did a great job when TC had to leave, and TC played outstanding, while Wieneke did what Wieneke does (unbelieveable talent). We got a couple of breaks from referee rulings, and so did ISU (particularly where T. J. took the ball out of the hands of the guy who was laying on top of one of our players). What a wonderful afternoon!!!
