No doubt the team played hard. But for a half it looked like we could win the game. Then reality hit us right between the eyes. Wasn't meant to be.

You'll have to excuse me for passing on the meltdown. Maybe my expectations were just a lot more realistic than some, but I based them on what I've seen from both these teams over the past 9 weeks. This team "is what it is".

We ran a completely immobile QB out there today who had not taken more than maybe a dozen snaps all year. He stood behind an O-line that looked nothing like the start of fall camp and they were facing the best D in FCS. IF Sumner is even able to be a threat to run we may have put up a lot more yards. He wasn't.

The D line issues are nothing new, if you've been watching even a little. I'm happy they held up so well in the first half. The DB's actually deserve a lot of credit for not giving up 1000 passing yards, considering the complete lack of a pass rush.

NDSU has been running it down people's throats in the second half all year. You better be able to score if you want to keep up.

Why am I not surprised by the final score?

It was a 3 pt game early 4th so we were in it more than a half. And no im not a moral victory person whatever that involves. You either win or lose

Per TV, Stig said Schneider had knee surgery on Monday and was expected to miss two weeks.

My quick run down before I get drunk for the Notre Dame-Navy game...

Wieneke was awesome, again. He was the best receiver on the field for either team, losing him really hurt us in the 2nd half. Sumner did really well and the o-line did as well after the first couple of drives. This was the first time in a long time against the Bison that I felt we could run whatever play we wanted/needed and excel. Mengarelli did a good job of spelling Zenner when we needed it on the 2nd touchdown. It's a shame that those 2 turnovers had to happen at the end and we go out like that. Also, for whatever damn reason it is, Sumner and Wesley just don't have a connection...it's almost unexplainable at this point due to him excelling with Lujan in so we know Wesley has it in him.

Defensively, we did a fantastic job shutting down the pass, they never had any of their underneath routes open on the rollouts and their wideouts were never really close to getting loose except for the one pass that was thrown out of the back of the endzone. The d-line was bad, they had no pass rush whatsoever and didn't get any push against the run. The defense scouted well, NDSU spent all game setting up that wheel route to Dudzik and setting up the Jump pass in the endzone, when the Bison finally ran it we had it covered. The fact of the matter was that their o-line was just superior to our d-line and that's why we lost.

It was nice getting Sumner, Mueller and Schneider back, but it sucks that it may be at the expense of Jake getting hurt. If this SDSU team that I saw today can somehow sneak in the backdoor of the playoffs, I really think that they could win a couple of games(assuming we have JW healthy of course), that's a big if though.

                Anyways, Go Jacks!

Tyler also just said that Weineke was in a boot after the game. We really need him next weekend.

I agree, how the hell was he able to elevate and extend himself so much on the ball he caught at midfield with his knee in the condition it was? That was a hell of an effort by Schneider.

                        No moral victories.

Sorry, a little buthurt from some of the attitudes presented earlier. The loss stinks, hopefully there are enough good bodies left out there to put together 3 straight wins and get a shot to do some damage in the playoffs.

Good game Jacks. One team was ready and the other was not. The final score DID NOT reflect how close it was. These words do not make it any easier for the Jacks BUT I was not surprised how close this game really was. I would like to think that the Bizon played "not so good" but the Jacks played ALOT better than what I thought they would. Win out and there is NO reason they should not be in the playoffs. See you in November?!

I am glad that you still maintain some optimism for three victories to qualify for the playoffs. It is too early to focus entirely on basketball. Go Jacks!

Agree. Seeing what Sumner did gives me hope for the last three games. That laser bomb TD to W definitely made me think about what could have been if it were not for that stumble at Mizzou.

The Jacks responded last season with their backs against the wall in this situation. Lets hope for similiar results this year.
