Facts to ndsu are like road games to usd. They don't really count.

Re: Jacks vs. Bison take 2

Maybe someone has mentioned this and I apologisze if so, but a win on Saturday would mark the first 10-win season in Jackrabbit history. The Jacks have won 9 games four times before this year: 1929 (9-1); 1950 (9-0-1); 1963 (9-1); 1979 (9-3).

The incredulity in Bisonland about the Jacks' dearth of playoff history ignores the fact that the D-II playoffs didn't begin until 1973, and that polls determined champs for about 15 years before that. It is undeniable that the Bison have had longer stretches of success - and national championships - since then. But in the long history of collegiate football in the Dakotas, SDSU had had stretches of dominance. Time to start a new one.

In the last 8 playoff inter-conference games, the home team has won 7 out of 8 games. The one win was Georgia So. @ Wofford, and Georgia So. had more fans at that game than Wofford.

And since I'm a nice guy I will throw this one your way. In the last 13 inter-conference playoff games, the team that lost the first game has won the second game 8 times.

I still say advantage Bison, but at least you have some history pulling your way. Just not as much as NDSU.

Its just hard to beat a team two times in a season.

I bet it's easy to beat yourself twice in the same season.* (take it as you will*)

Sample population = 2. That's not statistical analysis - it's silly. I hope this isn't how they teach people to predict things at SDSU. If so, we're all screwed.

Yep, I am aware of that, how do you think the Bison got in to the playoffs in 2010........ expansion. But if it makes you feel better how about this, no team that was the second to last selected to make the playoffs in DI has ever won a national championship.

So let me get this straight, you are somehow blaming the fact that DII playoffs have only been going on since 1973 for your lack of appearances/success. Lets see, SDSU has about 30 years of of possible DII football playoffs to be in, made it once. Last time I looked that was not a good percentage at all, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Now you have had a little better luck in DI and have made it twice, we made it three times by the way. And so far, in the history of your football program, have one playoff win. You do realize that NDSU has more playoff format national championships than you have wins in the playoffs.

In the long history, yes SDSU has had success. From the mid20s-early60s they won 14 conference titles.

Not sure I'm getting what you are trying to put down. My point was that you can just blatantly say there has never been a 19th seed to win a NC and say that is a trend. That's like flipping a quarter twice and it comes up heads both times so you summarize that 100% of the time the quarter will come up heads.

In SDSU's defense, I believe D-II only allowed like 2 teams at the most from a conference into the playoffs. When you are in the NCC for that stretch, it was going to be tough to get in when NDSU went on a killer run, UND had some time in the sun, not to mention Northern Colorado. Plenty of times when good NCC teams sat at home I imagine.

Score first and Austin must play his best game of the season.
