Had to give this thread a blaring headline because what SDSU Junior Trent Lusignan did today deserves everyone’s attention. Lusignan finished second in the Midwest Regionals Cross Country Championship at Ames, IA. He now advances to the national meet.
And his Jackrabbit men's team, plus the Jackrabbit women, did fine too.
Lusignan ran the 10,000 meter course in 30:30.24, just 2.30 seconds behind the winner, Tulsa’s Chris O’Hare, one of the country’s best. Lusignan’s finish bodes well for the national meet. No question a top-10 finish is in reach.
Compared to his peers nationally, and compared to some of the best athletes in SDSU’s history (including his coach, Rod Dehaven), Lusignan joins the ranks of the very best of the best athletes called Jackrabbits.
Lusignan’s team finished 10th which matches their Midwest Regional ranking.
The women finish 15th led by Sophomore standout Cheyanne Bowers who finished 40th overall.

The Cross Country women and men have a great future...lots of very talented young runners in the program right now.
