Due for a worse year: Reliever Caleb Thielbar allowed just 24 hits in 49 innings while posting a 1.76 ERA -- part of a good Twins bullpen that ranked fifth in the AL in ERA. With closer Glen Perkins having a dominant season, the Twins were 55-1 when leading after the eighth inning. Thielbar (the first major leaguer from South Dakota since Vean Gregg a hundred years ago) is a lefty without big-time stuff who throws a lot of fastballs up in the strike zone, so you have to wonder about a repeat performance. Perkins should be very good again, but it will difficult for the Twins to match that ninth-inning performance.
That's obviously wrong. Thielbar isn't even from South Dakota. He's from Northfield, MN.

Jason Kubel (OF) , Mark Ellis (2B) , Kerry Ligtenberg (RP), Shane Loux (RP) are all players who have made it to the majors from South Dakota.

Unless they mean players who played college ball in South Dakota....?

Here's a list of players born in SD who have played in the majors. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/play...South%20Dakota

Quite a list, even includes Jerry Crider, who played one year for the Twins born that same year I was born. 1941
Also Dick Green from Mitchell is missing, and Wiki says he was born in Sioux City,Iowa. To quote Johnny Carson" I did not know that".

DOB and POB can be tricky Goon. Good luck Caleb and everyone else with SD connections this coming season.

Twins place Scott Diamond on waivers.

That should nail down T-Bar's spot in the pen??

Hopefully it will not be a long stay down there.

I Googled "Mn Twins salaries 2015", one of the articles reported that he was to earn $510,000 this season.
