    Dear SDSU,

Thank you for having the courage and vision to make the transition to Division I. It is still quite astonishing that your administration, student body and alumni base were able to join in a unanimous front to make that vision come to fruition, especially when faced with an equally undivided, but loathsome and cowardly mass of naysayers led by the USD administration. Men for many generations to come will certainly tell their children stories of your epic bravery and, of course, your remarkable generosity. Not only did you withstand the putrid ridicule spewed by detractors from USD, but you thrived and emerged brilliantly with a roadmap suitable for your ungrateful sibling’s consumption.

It is upon this backdrop that this author struggles mightily to comprehend where USD finds the audacity to reach for the pedestal SDSU now occupies – a platform previously scoffed at by USD’s leadership – without first paying due appreciation for SDSU’s demonstrated valor before, during and beyond its Division I transition. Though my words hardly satisfy the level of eloquence expected of one man speaking on behalf of many others, please rest assured that there are scores of USD supporters out there who revere SDSU’s visionaries in a manner typically reserved for the gods. Your efforts are noticed, and it is a powerful truth that any fruit USD manages to harvest from the Division I tree is of a line rooted in SDSU’s genius.

Perhaps I overreacted to Coach Williams. Appreciate the perspective. Enjoy the fruit when it comes your way.

As for points, I gave 17 points to 3 separate coyote fans. Cashed in on one bet last night. Colleague of mine found a coyote fan who was willing to bet straight up for a 12 pack of Newcastle. Nice.

Had Oat-meal's diatribe contained one gram of sincerity, I would have considered accepting it. I must, however, believe that his sarcastic shot at us was just that - sarcasm, so I choose to decline his extended 'fig leaf'.

Until those bloviating, secret-handshake Yote faithful sincerely acknowledge this fact, I have no time for them. The fact is, despite THEIR disdain and some disdain within the Jackrabbit faithful (yes, we too remember that it wasn't a 100% approval rating for the move within our base), this move to D1 was not only a good thing to do - it was the right thing to do at the right time. I was one that sparred back and forth on Craig & Mike's blogger board, until it got shutdown - in favor of this move.

NSDU and SDSU proved that you can work together, despite 'the rivalry within you' to reach an accord and concensus, to make a change that is going to 'muddy the water'. I don't paint ALL the blame on USD for not making the move along with us. It became a battle of ego, history & hysteria at times. But the move was made for valid reasons and I believe it has been validated by the success the two schools have enjoyed.

The fact is, the move was made and now Udot follows. Facts are facts. You may hypothesize that we are afraid to play you in FB, MBB, Baseball (oh, that's right) - choose your poison. U have your theories and nothing we do will change that until our student athletes, meet your student athletes on the competition field. Remember, this is about the student athletes - student being the key word in the whole equation. (It's what your president is quoted saying was keeping you at D2. It's also what has set us apart from many schools as our student athletes have excelled in the classroom, as well as the competition field.)

Get back to me in a couple years once you start Summit play and tell me that you would rather be playing Mt. Marty, Dakota Weslyan & Upper Iowa. Until then, "You're welcome".

Someone in the state had to make the leap of faith when it came to moving up. SDSU was, IMO, the most ready to make the jump between the two schools. There were just more pieces in place for a SDSU move than a USD move.

I am not upset at how USD handled SDSU's transition. I, for one, never expected anyone down there to come out and pat us on the back. That isn't where the schools were at back then. But now, with two new ADs, I think that a new mentality has been put into place. I was, and still am, more disappointed in the SDSU "fans" that went into the transition kicking and screaming. I would expect flack from our rivals, but from our own? I hope those "supporters" that were so vocal against the move have been ridiculed appropriately by friends.

I think that it has been acknowledged by USD's athletic department that their transition was made a little easier because they went second. Do we really need to have every USD fan walk up to us, shake our hand, and profoundly thank us? That seems to be a "better than you" mindset. Jackrabbits dont do that.

I'm glad someone said what I have been thinking at that is I expected the negativity from Vermillion, but have more issues with SDSU faithful who badmouthed those pushing the DI agenda.

My point to both camps (State fans against move & outspoken Yote fans that wouldn't give us a glass of water if we were on fire) - the move has been made. It's going into the history books at both Universities.

However, I never intended for a "better than you" tone - I just want both camps to acknowledge that the move (good, bad or otherwise in their opinion) is OVER - they didn't make the decision, but can live with the results or bitch about it forever. It's a moot point.

I have really good friends from the University and I don't think I'm better than any one of them. However, a Jackrabbit is better than a Coyote. (at least this past Monday night)

The spread was 18. We won by 19. And how sad is it that you're taking solace in the fact that the beating your team absorbed was severe, but wasn't quite as severe as some fans on a bulletin board predicted.

Tough to really run it up when your opponents are so overmatched that they play a slow-down game to cut the number of possessions you get.

I'm surprised this hasn't been talked about more. Did anyone else find it odd that USD would run the shot-clock down to less than 10 seconds almost everytime down the court late in the 2nd half even when down by 15-16 points??? Humm...seems more like a strategy from coach that was looking for one thing...and that was, "let's just not get blown out".

Now we as SDSU fans may have thought it was, "just good defense by SDSU"...but if Coach Williams were truthfull, I think he got out of this game exactly what he wanted..."we didn't get blown away", and got a ton of exposure. I guess if this is your strategy, so be it...I'm just glad I'm not a fan of any team that thinks this way.

I don't think it was any kind of set strategy to make the score look better. I think it was more to do with SDSU's defense and that USD was unable to get a good shot. But I guess that's my opinion.

If you listened to AJ in the postgame, he thought it was clearly a strategy... and I'd guess he has forgotten more about basketball this morning than you or I would ever know.

It's clear what the strategy was, but don't think USD anticipated they would not be able to get a good shot off after working the clock. Clearly backfired. I think what was clear to me was how USD's lack of depth really hurt them as the Coyotes seemed to really be winded even with the media and called timeouts. Hegge was so tired at one point she could not hit the rim on a free throw.

My question is why the full court press up to the last second of the game, fouling with 8 seconds left, down 19, then pushing the ball holder as time expired. Was this to say the yotes never quit? or let's start some sh*t?
