March Madness will be expanding to 76 teams next year, per a bunch of news outlets. There will now be 12 'opening round' games consisting of:
At large selections:
2 games: 11v11
4 games: 12v12
Automatic Qualifiers:
2 games: 15v15
4 games: 16v16
Meaning, there are six additional bottom-two seeds (4 of which are 16s)... meaning the chance for the Summit League or any Mid-Major program to get a favorable seed and draw to get a real first round win is completely gone.
