Much of the banter that day involved the subject of the universities eventually belonging to the same conference down the road. Even though the presidents have changed, the direction of the affiliation may still be the same. The Fighting Sioux have assumed the Fighting Hawk moniker to make the move more palatable to the masses. It was a matter of time for the changes to evolve and it may not be out of the realm of reality for the F'n Hawks to break into the MVFC and the Summit regardless of the timing of each. By the way, the Jackrabbits won 21-0. That was the score at halftime and the second half was completed at Ray's.
How can I forget that day. I froze my you know what off. Headed for home with a piping hot Domino's pizza. That was a great game. I was totally unaware of the Bio stress lab ceremonies. I do remember they had a guy with a big cowboy hat lead the team on the field. I think they were thinking rough riders that day being the future logo.

Back to the topic, I am glad the committee recommended keeping all 20 sports. Dont look for hockey taking any hits. There all tons of hockey fans and some even in Fargo, who forgo following the BIZUN.

If I recall they announced FCOA shortly after (maybe one day) NDSU announced. Most outside of UND saw the announcement as a reaction to NDSU's announcement.

I think the more likely scenario would be the P5 going on their own and the rest joining with the majority of FCS. I don't understand the idea of NDSU going to the FBS. Yes, they are dominant right now, but this too shall pass, I think they would be a .500 team at the FBS level. Unless they could somehow get into a big money tv deal, it just doesn't seem to make sense.

Nah. In the end the Sun Belt will be the ones drawing teams up most likely. Really isn't going to be that big of an impact with the Big 12 grabbing two teams, especially if they grab BYU. The trickle down effect doesn't trickle real far with this movement. And why would you go anywhere less than the Mountain West honestly? With the new TV deals the Slum Belch and C USA got, you aren't getting barely any money out of it. Plus the Fargodome would need to be expanded. The capacity isn't at FBS levels. And the state of ND doesn't allow bonding like SD does. Plus they would need to most likely build a whole new stadium because cost wise expanding a dome is phenomenally expensive. Where does that $ come from? Add to it the budget problems the schools up there are facing having to make cuts at the moment and the Forum out for blood with the current administration at NDSU. Oh, and if they go to CUSA or the SB their travel gets INSANE. Unless they can get into the MAC (WAY out of the conference foot print) or the MWC (need a MAJOR shakeup for them to come calling) they're kinda stuck in no mans land.

I think NCAA sanctions are just as likely, to be honest.

Before anyone flies off the handle, both are complete speculation without any evidence whatsoever. One is as likely as the other.

And if that major of a change happens, SDSU and UNI are likely getting calls as well. And even if we do end up losing YSU and NDSU, guess what? UND will still want and need to be in the MVFC. No need to add teams just to add teams.

Any why would we want to do that? I'm all for having UND in the Summit, but until someone leaves the MVFC I would rather keep it at one division.
