Jacks had some nice efforts on the first day but not many events scored in first day.

With several events left to score today (Saturday), SDSU women in 4th and SDSU men in 3rd. We continue to have some very good performances ( e.g. Nicole Davis wins the steeplechase setting a new conference record and smashing her own school record; Luke Leischner won the men's 400 at :47.18...she's a senior, he's a soph). but many Jackrabbits are redshirted this season...next year will be a different story.

In what may have been one of the guttiest performances I've heard of...Brandon Priebe, coming back after destroying his knee last season, finished 5th in the 400m intermediate hurdles running :54.44 -- that's either a personal best or very close to it. I think Priebe's first competitive race this season was just two weeks ago at the Howard Wood Relays.

Hats off to his orthopedic expert, too.

            Re: Summit Outdoor Championships

Jacks end up 4th for women and 3rd for men.

In the final event: SDSU men win the 4 x 400 in 3:12...with an all-sophomore quartet.

The hallmark of every good track team is a stable of good quartermilers...some come down from the 800 and even the 1500, others run the 100 and 200 well and others still are hurdlers (as in, if we need another quartermiler, get the sticks out of his way and watch a guy like Brandon Priebe). Lots of positive signs about the Jackrabbits.

How about sophomore Greg Beesley taking 2nd by inches in the 10,000 and then winning the 5,000 today...with teammate Marshall Kambestad, a junior, right behind Beesley in the 5000.

Pretty sure this locks up the women's all-sport trophy for ye Bison.

                  Re: Summit Outdoor Championships

actually Priebe's first meet was back at the Jim Duncan meet (a 3weeks before the Wood)....same exact meet at the same exact place

and that mens 4x400m relay team all those sophomores have not red-shirted except for Schneller who red-shirted an outdoor season his freshmen year

It appears SDSU locked up a trio of "Miss Congeniality" awards this year.

It would be all but impossible for SDSU to finish less than 3 places ahead of Oakland.

                      Re: Summit Outdoor Championships

If the objective of the Mid-Con Teams was to elevate their conference, SDSU and NDSU have demonstrated their abilities to be top competitors in the conference. Not bad for schools that don't host all the conference sports, and actually put a fair amount into sports not under the Summit umbrella.

Baseball was factored into those numbers using the standings as of last night. SDSU can't make up the two points needed to tie Oakland for second in the men's award. The only changes that can still happen are places where two schools are tied or within a point of each other.

Ah. I see. I thought you'd left baseball out entirely.

I decided to use the same method NorCalJack uses for his updates. I figured it would be more familiar to the users here.
