09 Parade Pics

Here's a sampling of pics taken from this morning's parade. I didn't take the time to crop and photoshop etc. The theme was "Hoboes Save the Day". The most popular exemplars of Hoboes Saving the Day were various superheroes and health-care workers carrying large syringes, fighting germs etc. And, of course, there were the usual random, what-the-heck-is-that-about displays got a good laugh from the parade watchers.

It always starts with the Pride.

Construction Management majors had a nice "float" -- I think the rabbit was constructed with spray-on concrete.

These jokers drove a truck backwards for the whole parade. Serious!

Cute little kid stumbled when going for some candy. Reminded me of days gone by when college students just stumbled. (I marvel at how there are no visible drunks -- drunks were a real hazard during parades 30 years ago.)



Lots of pageant winners. Some wouldn't stay in their vehicles!



A Sophwith Camel? [Comment added later: Hey, this is supposed to be a pun. The famous WW I plane was a SOPwith Camel. So how about a SOPH -- as in sophomore? Oh, never mind.]

One of my favorite bands was Flandreau. They played Sweet Caroline while they marched.

I thought the floats were much better this year than in years past. My daughter had a blast and got a ton of candy.
