  • FCS Pre-Season Top 25

    http://www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticl...CLID=204780392

Looks like you guys are #23. Not bad. My mighty Bison didn't crack the list. So this is where I say "Pre-season polls don't mean anything!"

*Not sure if the link will work or not. For some reason, I've never been able to post a link to anything.......I'm a moron apparently. If someone can post the proper link and maybe PM me and tell me how to do it that would be great.

            Re: FCS Pre-Season Top 25

This is what Cedar Rapids Gazette sports editor J.R. Ogden (a UNI grad, by the way) writes about the Panthers' prospects this year...
"The Panthers open Saturday in Iowa City, a tough task for the little sibling in this state battle. But expect UNI to give Iowa a tussle for at least a couple of quarters, then cruise through the rest of its schedule. The Panthers could be looking at taking a 10-1 record into the playoffs, but something tells me there will be stumbling along the way. Look for a 9-2 regular season and another Missouri Valley Football Conference title."

              Re: FCS Pre-Season Top 25

The USA Today FCS pre-season info shows UNI and SIU as mentions for title. Kyle Minette is singled out as a "someone to watch this season." One of 10/11 players in the article.

I really did not follow Jackrabbit football since I left school in the Mid-80's until the last few years. I know the team is making strides and you wonder why that is? Can a team that has not been to the playoffs for ever it seems, turn things around? How does a team turn into a winner? Great leadership by the man in charge is how it is done. When I read quotes from Coach Stig, I just think this is the guy that has and will continue to change our outlook in football. Here is his quote from this article.

"Football programs gain tradition through hard work," said Stiegelmeier. "What we're trying to do is create that tradition."

Coach Stig is definately the right man for this program. I can't wait for this year to get started.
