    from go jacks

pretty good showing for the jacks in one (if not thee) toughest college opens out there

OMAHA – South Dakota State freshman Scott Elliot won all five of his 184-pound matches to win the amateur division championship on Saturday at the Kaufman/Brand open in Omaha.

Four other Jackrabbits finished with at least 2-2 records in the amateur division and one Jackrabbit excelled in the elite division.

A Derby, Kan., native, Elliot advanced got a pin and a major decision win to get to the semi-finals, where he beat Nebraska-Omaha’s Matt Baker, 6-3. Elliot then beat Nebraska’s Josh Ihnen, 6-1, for the title.

Freshman Aaron Pickrel (Watertown, S.D.) finished the day with a 4-2 record. Freshman Dustin Walraven (Huron, S.D.), junior Weston Blasius (Kimball, S.D.) and freshman Zach Blindert (Salem, S.D.) all finished 2-2 in their respective weight classes.

Senior Jason Stripling (Minneota, Minn.) went 2-2 in the heavyweight elite division, which was good for 4th place overall.

The Jackrabbits return to action next Saturday at the Indiana Duals in Bloomington, Ind.
