I just don't understand how Western IIinois can be ranked above the Jacks. Jacks beat them, and WIU just lost their second game in a row, dropping them to 5-4.

NDSU is ranked somehow, it must be that thrilling 34-7 victory over Indiana State

Those polls don't make me feel all warm and fuzzy when thinking about our chances at making the playoffs even if we win out.

Agreed, We all might be looking back at the McNeese State game and scratching our heads saying "ahh shucks" that one hurts.

agreed... the one that got away. But hey theres still a chance c'mon we're going to win out and UNI is somehow going to lose!

              Re: 11/10 Polls

I think that more will be told after this weekend. If an upset occurs you will see SDSU climb pretty well in the polls.

If I am not mistaken the AGS and GPI are the two polls to watch closest.

                Re: 11/10 Polls

The Jacks need to win out first, then need the playoff committee to grow a pair and not pick SIU just because they've been in FCS longer.

If you look at the schedules of both SDSU and SIU and consider that a win in Carbondale by the Jacks gives us the head to head favor. Not to mention that if SDSU wins out, that also means the Jacks beat an NDSU team in Fargo that SIU lost to.
I just don't see how they could put the Salukies in and leave the Jacks out looking at these facts.

                Out of conference for SIU:
                Northwestern FBS
                Hampton - HBCU
UND - Non-counter (So really they would only have 7 true wins if the Jacks win)

                Plus, played 11 games to SDSU's 12.

SDSU's Out of Conference, which we are all familiar with:
                Iowa State FBS
                Stephen F. Austin FCS
McNeese - FCS- Triple OT, #4 ranked at the time
Cal Poly - FCS - Still Ranked #3

Problem is...both are not getting in. Hence the fact that Patty V. is such a proponent of 24 team playoff...So am I!!

Again if the Jacks win out, the only reason that I can come up with that SIU gets in instead of SDSU...is reputation.

                Go Jacks!!
                SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

                  Re: 11/10 Polls

SIU's non-counter win against und might be huge come selection time. und's loss to SUU doesn't help SIU's win either. UND I believe has only one FCS win this year against a 0-For Idaho. So there should not be a whole lot of respect given in that regards. So I remain hopeful that the Jacks control their own destiny for the most part.

I guess I'm a little surprised to see Montana State and Northern Arizona with GPI's better than ours.

I'm gonna make take a firmer stance here, no way Montana St. and Northern Arizona should be rated ahead of us. There is a problem with the way they calculate this power index.

Maybe, but you have to put into account what would happen if we beat SIU and NDSU. I believe our RPI would go way up after that.
