    USHL OKs Fargo team

    It’s official: Fargo will once again be a member of the United States Hockey League.

    Earlier this week, the USHL’s board of governors approved the application and membership of a franchise that will begin playing in the junior hockey league in the fall of 2008.

    The franchise will be owned by Ace Brandt, a Fargo developer whose company broke ground last week for a $34 million hockey arena in southwest Fargo. The Urban Plains Center and Tournament Facility, expected to be completed when the 2008 USHL season begins in October, will be owned by the non-profit organization Metro Sports Foundation.

    “The Urban Plains Center will be another first-class facility for our league to play in,” said USHL chairman of the board Jim Kronschnabel. “We welcome Fargo back to the USHL.” . . . (read more)
