    South Dakota State University quarterback Ryan Berry has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2008 Draddy Trophy.

    A senior from Watertown, Berry is one of 164 semifinalists from all divisions of college football for the Draddy Trophy, which is presented by HealthSouth. In order to be nominated, a player must be a first-team player or significant contributor to his team, have a grade-point average of at 3.2 on a four-point scale, be in his final year of eligibility and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.

    South Dakota State University quarterback Ryan Berry has been selected as a 2008 National Scholar-Athlete and is one of 15 finalists for the Draddy Trophy, officials from the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.

    A senior from Watertown, S.D., Berry was named the recipient of the Robert A. Simms National Scholar-Athlete Award and will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. He will be honored during the 2008 NFF Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on Dec. 9, when the Draddy Trophy, presented by HealthSouth, will be awarded.
