  • A-11 Offense

Here's a subject that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else:

I just saw a link on Yahoo to Rivals.com and a story about a new offense being used by a high school in California (last year, 7-4 for the year with this setup). The coaches call it the A-11. It features two quarterbacks in shotgun formation. Sounds like everybody is a legal receiver. They even have their own website.

A side bar in the Rivals.com story:
Bryan said coaches from 35 to 40 Division I-A schools, and from every conference, have contacted him and Humphries looking for information on the offense. Apparently, the college coaches are quick studies.

Humphries said he saw San Jose State run multiple A-11 plays last season against Stanford. Florida ran an offensive play recalling the A-11 against LSU. And Rutgers and the NFL's San Francisco 49ers ran punt plays containing aspects of Piedmont's offense.

Link to Rivals.com story is here.

Give those guys high marks for REALLY thinking outside the box!

    Re: A-11 Offense

Probably not legal in the NCAA (except on 4th down).

Good fun for high school teams before they outlaw it, though, from what it sounds like.
