  • DSU Invitational

Some of the team went down to Madison to warm up for Howard Wood. I would have liked have watched but I had class.

MADISON, S.D. -- Andrew Duitsman won a pair of events Monday, leading the South Dakota State University men's track and field team Monday at the DSU Invitational.

A junior from Oakdale, Minn., Duitsman claimed the 200-meter dash in 21.98 seconds, and cruised to victory in the 110-meter hurdles with a winning time of 14.65 seconds -- 1.35 seconds faster than his nearest competitor. Teammate Dan Winders placed second in the 200 meters, 22.73 seconds.

Also winning for the Jackrabbits were a pair of freshmen: hurdler Brandon Priebe and pole vaulter Calvin Cammack. Priebe clocked a winning time of 54.94 seconds inthe 400-meter hurdles, while Cammack cleared 14 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault. Fellow Jackrabbits Tyler Schiferl and Troy Beekman placed second and third with respective marks of 14 feet and 13 feet.

Camden Helder won a high jump title for the second consecutive meet, leaping 6-8 to win the event, three days after winning the high jump at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa. Cameron Johnson contributed a second-place finish in the field events, as well, leaping 21-8.50.

A full Jackrabbit squad is slated to compete Friday and Saturday at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls.

Schurr won the 100-meter dash in 12.79 seconds and placed third in the 200-meter dash, 26.82 seconds. Hakk added a victory in the long jump, 17 feet, 5 inches, and claimed third in the 100-meter hurdles, 15.65 seconds.
