It was reported at the BB game that they beat UNI in 8 innings as well.

SDSU girls win 6-0 over Dayton.

Playing UNI now and down 0-7. Unless there is a miracle, they'll end up 3-1 on the weekend.

Pretty good start to the season.

Girls lose to UNI 2-7. Score 2 runs in bottom of 7 and were no real threat.

              Re: SDSU UNI Tournament

What a start for the ladies! With arctic-like conditions outside, the Rabbits fastpitch squad got off to a scorching start inside the UNI dome (which if you haven't been there, is actually a pretty decent joint - almost twice as big as the DakotaDump).

Game 1 -- played a game UND squad that is actually more of a slowpitch outfit-no problems scoring runs but struggle with pitching. The Lady Rabbits dug themselves a 6 run hole and looked to be on their way to a season opening loss. However, they exploded in the top of the 5 for 5 runs, mixing in creative hitting and very aggresive base running to get back in the game! Sam Heinzman delivered the game winning base hit in the top of 7th to give us a one run lead that Jenna made hold up! Great to see them no give up and us their speed to generate the comeback

Game 2 -- took on host UNI on Saturday night. UNI has the look of a solid squad with good pitching. We didn't face their ace in this game but still saw better throwers than UND. Battled the whole way, played some very solid defense behind Jenna who threw much better in this game (first one she didn't lose the game, this one she won!). Played into the 8th before the Postma twins and Sam again delivered the game winning hit to send us to our first 2-0 start since 1994!

Game 3 -- Dayton Flyers on Sunday morning. After watching Dayton take UNI to the 7th before losing by only 1 run on Saturday, we knew we were going to have a game -- that was before the Lady Rabbits came out and completely dominated the game. Another strong pitching performance combined with solid defense led to a 6-0 cruise. Again, we were very aggresive on the bases and played small ball very effectively on offense.

Game 4 -- the back to back schedule on Sunday resulted in us playing UNI immediately following the Dayton game and mental fatigue was definately a factor. While Jenna was getting ready to throw her 4th game of the weekend, UNI's ace was slated for only her 2nd and it showed. Lepley had very good stuff the whole game and UNI's offense jumped on us early (2 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, and 2 more in the 3rd) and it could have been worse except our defense threw out 3 base runners in the 1st for all of our outs!! After that initial burst, Jenna settle in and battled; holding UNI scoreless the rest of the way was an impressive turn around. However, our bats just couldn't get started until the 7th when we scored 2 window dressing runs but never the less, it was important to see them keep battling and playing the game the right way even though they were tired and on their 29th inning in 2 days.

Overall, great start to the season. Excitement is already very high among the ladies and they are having quite a bit of fun! Up next is Florida for the Florida Gulf Coast tournament and I think a 4-1 road trip is very attainable! GO RABBITS!!!
