Some reaction from other Gateway schools on the Bison blog:

From Terra Haute (Indiana State), a very interesting tidbit: http://www.tribstar.com/sports/local...yword=topstory
Viverito declined to offer the exact vote count among the Gateway’s university presidents. Prettyman (ISU's AD) told the Tribune-Star on Wednesday that he believed it was 5-2 in favor of admitting the Dakota schools after it had initially been 4-3 until one president changed his vote.

“We had full support of our Presidents Council to move forward,” Viverito did say.
    From Northern Iowa:

"They're neighbors, and we've brought back some old rivals and they're adding two strong teams to an already talented league," said UNI head coach Mark Farley,

Said director of athletics Rick Hartzell. "They're comparable to institutions like us -- that's a positive. From a standpoint of long term stability and growth of the Gateway, it's a terrific decision."
Viverito declined to give a vote tally, other than to say "There was a consensus for expansion with these two teams."
    From Peoria, Illinois: http://www.pjstar.com/stories/030807...J7MUES.077.php
"We're just tired of having to struggle with scheduling all the time," Western Illinois coach Don Patterson said. "Our I-AA (non-conference) games are plane rides anyway so at least we know where we are flying to. No question this adds to the quality of the league."
From Springfield, Missouri (Missouri State): http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs...703080411/1096
After expressing initial concern over the travel distance involving the Dakota schools, Missouri State athletic director Bill Rowe said he believes it was the right move to add them.

"We want to welcome them in a strong way to promote our overall strength as a league," Rowe said. "We're losing a strong member in Western Kentucky, but not missing a beat with the new schools coming in."

"The presentation of both presidents was very compelling," said YSU president Dr. David Sweet, who chaired the league's expansion committee. "I can speak on behalf of all my colleagues and their member institutions when I say we are pleased to be able to welcome both teams to the Gateway Conference."
