RALEIGH, N.C. - Duke University said Wednesday that two of the lacrosse players accused of sexually assaulting a stripper have been invited to return to school and are eligible to rejoin the team.

Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann had been barred from attending class during the fall semester while their case made its way through court. A third player, Dave Evans, graduated in May, the day before he was charged.

Lawyers for Seligmann and Finnerty said their clients were still making up their minds about whether to return.

When you graduate from Duke, you have a very good union card, and if letting these two athletes back on the team is what will help Duke as an institution to heal, then so be it.

I think the State's attorney in NC has been after too much political image and it appears to be back firing and he is going to be the real trouble as it now appears. He might have been wise to follow the demeanor of our Brookings County Attorney.
