UC Davis will play its inaugural football game at new Aggie Stadium on Sept. 1 when Western Washington makes a historic visit to open the new venue.
That will be one of five home games on the 2007 schedule which also features six road games, including a Sept. 29 contest at New Mexico Bowl winner San Jose State.

UC Davis released its 2007 schedule on Friday morning.

UC Davis, which posted its 37th consecutive winning season after finishing 6-5 in 2006, will also be eligible for postseason for the first time since 2002 when it was still a member of NCAA Division II. The Aggies are completing a four-year transition to Division I and will play in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Div. I-AA) beginning this fall.

The Aggies new home, located adjacent to the Schaal Aquatics Center on the west side of campus, is nearing completion of construction that began in 2005. The $29.75 million stadium will feature 10,000-12,000 seats and amenities such as a state-of-the-art video display scoreboard, pressbox, several concession areas and other features. The UC Davis football team will share the facility with the women's lacrosse program.

The Aggies are moving into their new home after playing at Toomey Field since 1949.   .  .  .  (read more)
