Wow.....I know it's D-II, but 53 wins in a row is simply amazing........this record stood for over 60 years.....

Given Nagy's comments that his best DII teams would have won approximately 17 games on our present schedule, this is a team that could possibly have taken out 20 and wound up in the NIT. Good talent is out there.

Taking a look at their roster, all regional talent, many from Wisconsin. Winona St. did beat the Gophers in an exhibition as well. For what that's worth. I agree, there is good talent in the region.

It's also a team that could have taken the Mid-Con this year.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Doesn't matter until you do it. We all know how things can change with the transition.

I'm glad we didn't play Winona, USD, Mn State or Kearney this year in Men's Basketball as the results might have been embarrasing.

I am not so sure about that. :-? ORU who won the Mid-Con beat the University of Kansas at Allen Field House in Lawrence. They are pretty good this year.

Go State! :)

Winona St. continues their streak. Back in the elite 8. I noted that there were 400 people in attendance for USD's loss last week.

Winona State defeated Bentley in the first round of the elite eight, ending Bentley's 32 game winning streak.

Winona 90, Central Missouri 85, OT.

That's 57 in a row. Only Barton (some lil' place in NC) stands in the way of a perfect season for the Warriors.

This would be the 1st perfect season since Fort Hays State in 1996 for d2 basketball.

Winona State is on Keloland/CBS right now if anyone cares to take a peek.

Anyone just see the ending of this one?

Winona was up 7 with less than a minute to go - loses by 2 on a layup to end the game. Lots of turnovers by Winona at the end - Even though I was going for Winona, it was a fun game to watch.

Agreed, anything can happen at the end of a championship BB game. Ask Fred Brown about that.

Regardless of the ending, it has been a great 2 year run by Winona State. Congrats to them.

Congratulation to Winona State. I was working at a youth BB tourney all day yesterday and didn't see Sportscenter till this AM and saw the last few baskets. What a tough way to go out, but what a great run they had.

According to D2 Football board, the young man from Barton (where ever that is located at) scored the winning basket in all three games of the Elite Eight. That is as remarkable as Winona's win streak. Basketball tourneys are always full of surprises, D2 is no exception. Congradulations to Winona on their long win streak. Its going to be hard for anyone to duplicate.

That is one of my favorite things that has come about by our move to D-I, we don't have to ask that question much anymore. I am sure there were folks in Wilson, NC (home of Barton College) that were asking themselves the same thing about Winona State.

In our WNIT run it was nice to face Illinois State, Indiana, and Wyoming. It is just a whole different experience.

Go State! :)

I watched most of the game; that ending was one to see. Sad to see Winona's defeat but two lazy mistakes cost them the title. Barton never gave up so the credit belongs to them.
