  • Butler's Lickliter going to Iowa

ESPN is now reporting Iowa's position, vacated by Steve Alford (New Mexico) is going to be filled by Butler's Todd Lickliter. The press conference is tomorrow morning.

We've had Butler, under Lickliter's tutelege, visit Frost ('the 05-06 season) and host the Jackrabbits (this season). It may not mean anything but it does not hurt that Lickliter knows a little about the Jackrabbits. I recall watching his Butler team at Frost last year and thinking that if he had a 7 footer--watch out! His teams just look very well coached, the kind of coaching that can get a slightly less talented group to consistently beat teams with a little better talent. I think this is a nice catch by Iowa.

I think it is the same kind of catch like Tennessee got with Bruce Pearl when Pearl was with UWM. The Horizon League is a pretty descent Mid-Major Basketball Conference.

Butler's assistant, Brad Stevens, hired for the Butler head-coaching position, replacing Lickliter.
