Danny O

I'm not sure how many of you know... but Danny Olson, "Danny O" if you listened to KELO or KSOO, passed away last weekend at the age of 84. They just had his funeral yesterday.

I think it's safe to say that Danny O had a huge impact on sports in South Dakota. He was one of those outstanding announcers that all us sports directors and announcers strive to be like. He was a tireless promoter of the outdoors, South Dakota sports, and of course, amatuer baseball.

He will be missed.

Danny was very passionate about the Augustana Vikings and Washington High Warriors when he did their games on KSOO. A great guy though and I recall a Tom Maxwell show a few years back were Danny told of being approached by SDSU to do Jackrabbit Football games. This was before WNAX began its association with SDSU. I think where ever and whenever he was broadcasting he never forgot who was handing old the paycheck. God bless his memory.
