  • Class A state tournament

This is what I know, Vlastuin could become a SDSU recriut but I don't believe he is or will become, The sophomores from Madison should be fun to watch..

STM- one seed but not the favorite in my eyes, lost there most athletic player do to ankle injury (Nowotny), guards can shoot when left open
Kyle Doer-- 6-7 PF good player I believe he is overrated has been recruited by BHSU, SDSM&T, UND, and St. Cloud State

Lennox-- Real scary team blew out Roncalli at the Parkston Classic, very athletic, guards are real streaky shooters.. Lost to Madison twice
Jared Vlastuin-- 6-6 SF/PF-- Most athletic kid in the state, has obtained an offer from Augie, D-1 Athlete but needs to play better D if he wants to become a D-1 player

Madison-- Very Athletic team, runs a Princton style offense with alot of cutters..

Chad White- SDSU verbel-- needs to develop a better outside shot so he can kill off of the dribble
Tony Fiegen- SDSU verbel-- needs to develop better post moves, i believe he will become a better player then white
    Jermey Getitz--DWU????-- great leaper

Roncalli--- I have no clue honestly-- watched them play once alot of those small forwards.. Plays a football style of basketball, will have to play tough to beat them

Parkston-- Best basketball player in the state with Matt Malloy-- best overal athlete (good at everything)
Matt Malloy-- DWU, DSU, USF, SDSU-- SDSU for baseball.. been looked at by all--- offer by DWU, and on SDSU's baseball recruting list...

Sioux Valley-- Don't know much about this team, heard they're similar to Madison in they don't dribble alot

Chamberlin-- Very Athletic team, likes to force the tempel
Ethan Frietz-- don't know if he is being recruited, is a lil undersized but very quick guard

Little Wound-- FAST FAST FAST-- RUN AND GUN
they have 2 guys that are on the top 5 west river scoring but I don't know how inflated the stats are, Gave STM only loss of the season,

    St. Thomas More
Defending state champions, not as strong as last season and suffered a huge loss when Nowotny went down but still a very well coached, diciplined team.  Will have their hands full with Lennox and most likely Madison if they get past the first round.

Nathan Jacobson -- Solid junior guard and possibly the best guard in his class.  Steady and competitive athlete who runs the show effectively.
Kyle Doerr -- Sound post/forward who will have to carry the load without Nowotny.

    Lennox
Has talent but like STM, not as talented as last years team.  Still they could make a run to the Saturday night game provided they can knock off STM and then possibly Madison.

Jared Vlastuin - Athletic, undersized post but makes up for size with athletic ability.  Doesn't shoot much outside the paint and best leaper in the field.
Andy Kruse -- Streaky shooter who can light it up when on.  If they keep him under raps the team struggles, when he's hitting the team lights up the scoreboard.
Bryant Larson -- Coaches kid who can also light it up from beyond the arc.  If he's hitting the 3's as well Lennox will have success.

    Madison
Talented team has fallen in rankings due to some losses but if the Region Final is any indication the team has righted themselves and is primed to make a run at the title.  Past history has shown that this group doesn't handle big time pressure well and if they can overcome that trait should be in the finals on Saturday night.

Brady Wiebe -- Steady senior (DWU bound) who has led the team all season long in all areas.  Needs solid tournament and leadership for team to have success.
Chad White -- Young Soph with loads of talent.  Expect that he'll only get better down the road and is solid right now.  Explosive and plays with a lot of bounce.  Skilled athlete who can score from anywhere on the floor....shooting isn't a problem.
Tony Fiegen -- Second young Soph with huge upside.  Started off the season slow but has contributed in big ways down the stretch.  Limited playing time early due to depth of team, but the team needs him to win the title.

    Aberdeen Roncalli
Similar team to cross town rival CHS.....not many basketball players but very good athletes.  Enjoyed success in football but doubt they will win the State A title.

    Parkston
Current number one team in Class A and have knocked off quality opponents down the stretch.  Team lacks depth and will be interesting to see if they can pull off three wins in a row.

Matt Malloy -- Proves that size doesn't matter as he's about 5'9" but plays closer to a 6'4" kid due to athletic ability.  Solid, smart guard who runs the show.  As he goes so does the team.  Josh Mueller type athlete who can will his team to win.
David Maxwell -- Solid Soph with great ability, body and smarts.  Needs to take pressure off of Malloy for team to have success.

    Sioux Valley
Well coached, diciplined team that can take the air out of the ball or run if necessary.  Good size and solid guards but have had a trouble with consistency.  They will be ready to play and wouldn't be surprised if they knocked off Parkston the first round.

Dwight Pederson -- Solid big man who could play at the AA level and have success.  Unknown due to the fact he had a major growth spurt last year and grew 5 inches to current height.  If he were a Junior would have more recruiting interest, may slip to NAIA level but is a fring DII type athlete.
Brooks Knolley -- Solid Soph guard, athletic and decent shooter.  Will provide match up problems due to size.

    Little Wound
Primed to make a run at the title and will have strong support if they make it to Saturday night.  Explosive team full of athletes.  They will push the tempo and try to make opponents play fast.

TJ McCauley -- 4th school in 4 years may give him his second best opportunity to win a title (Pierre last year).  Will need to have a solid tournament for team to have success.

    Chamberlain
Close call in Region final propelled this team to the state tournament.  Played well in last years tournament has a tough draw right out of the gate this year.  Winning the first game would be a huge upset.

Ethan Friesz -- Big time scorer for this team but has been held in check against solid opponents.  Needs to show leadership and have huge games for this team to win it all.
