  • The 1935 season-What was it like?

Since I was born in 1941, I cant claim to have been around in 1935.  I do know that the summer of 1935 was extremely warm and the Sinai SD Legion team lost to Pierre in the Semi finals of the state Legion tournament. I had to throw that one in since I spent my early years near Sinai and some still talk about this good baseball team, that played great together as a team, but no special talent.

The Jacks went 4-4-1 that year including the win over Wisconsin. Looking at the scores in the media guide, it looks like the 1935 Jacks were a very good team defensively, but may have had problems punching the ball across the goal line.  Here are the scores for the entire season.

Iowa Teachers( Now Northern Iowa U.)    13-22
    North Dakota (UND)                                     6-6
    North Dakota State                                      6-7
    South Dakota (USD)                                     2-7
    Morningside                                                12-6
    Northern                                                      33-0
    Wisconsin                                                    13-6
    Cinninnati                                                      0-38
    St Olaf                                                          38-0

The only loss that was a spanking was to Cinninnati the week after Wisconsin, lets hope this does not happen this time around when we take on Cal Poly : : : : :.
