    BROOKINGS, SD - South Dakota State will have a little extra time before taking the field again with an open date this weekend. The Jacks, 4-2 overall, 1-2 in the Great West Football Conference, will be at Montana State in Bozeman on Oct. 23. SDSU earned its first GWFC victory with a thrilling 24-21 come-from-behind rally against North Dakota State in the Beef Bowl
    last weekend.
    Quarterback Brad Nelson directed a 14- play, 80-yard scoring drive, connecting with Chris Molitor for a 22-yard TD pass with 39 seconds remaining. Nelson completed
    seven passes on the drive including a pair on fourth down plays.
    Montana State rallied from a 17-0 deficit to defeat Weber State 20-17 last week. EJ Cochrane, one of the trio of kickers that has battled for top Bobcat honors this season, nailed a 44-yard field goal with no time on
    the clock to win the game for the Bobcats.

    MSU is 4-2 overall, 3-0 in the Big Sky Conference, heading into this week’s game.

    SDSU and Montana State played 11 times 1956 to 1966, with MSU holding a 9-2 advantage. SDSU won in 1963 in Montana, 9-6, and 1960 at Brookings, 20-14. Montana State won the last meeting 41-6 in Bozeman.

    COACH KRAMER - Mike Kramer (Idaho, 1977) is in
    his fifth year as head coach at Montana State. He is the
    only coach in the history of the Big Sky Conference to
    win league titles and coach of the year honors at two
    different schools, accomplishing the feat at Eastern
    Washington in 1997 and Montana State in 2002. He has

    COACH STIG - John Stiegelmeier (stig-el-meyer) is in his eighth season as head coach of the Jackrabbits. The Selby native is a 1979 graduate of SDSU with a Master’s Degree from Northern Iowa in 1981. He was North Central Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 after guiding the Jacks to an 8-3 season, their best record in 20 years. Stiegelmeier has a 46-35 career record.
