  • GWFC additions for 2005 ?

In another thread it was said that "Central Arkansas and University of San Diego have been talked about as potential new members of the Great West."

If this is true is it documented anywhere ?  Just wondering if anyone had any more info and/or when would this be made public.

With UNC going to Big Sky would be great to gain two more schools. Plus still room and time to add CAU to schedule.

Re: GWFC additions for 2005 ?

Central Arkansas will start their exploratory year next year, so they are not a possibility for 2005.

San Diego would have to start offering some football-related grants, otherwise they would concede to having nearly the same travel budget and being the perennial doormat of the GWFC. There's been rumblings about USD investing more into football, but until the ink dries on the check, they're still offering nothing in the way of football-related grants.

To answer your original question- it's nothing more than internet message board speculation that UCA or USD will become members of the GWFC.

      Speaking of the Great West..
The composite sked for 2005 is interesting.
UC Davis is at Stanford on September 17, and Southern Utah is at BYU on September 30.
The Aggies could give the Cardinal a game.
Also, there are 15 games with the Big Sky this fall, with Cal-Poly playing 5 of them, 4 at home...

Speaking of UCA, they are looking at the Southland, and the Southland is looking at UCA.

Doesn't look like a prospective GWFC member. :-/
