North Dakota State Announces Addition of Southern Illinois to 2005 Schedule
North Dakota State University Media Relations, Jeff Schwartz

North Dakota State University announced the addition of Southern Illinois University to its 2005 football schedule. That announcement was made today by NDSU Director of Athletics Gene Taylor. Taylor said North Dakota State will aggressively pursue an 11th game to be added to the schedule and played at the Fargodome.

The Bison will play five home games in 2005 including non-conference games against Weber State University (Sept. 17, 6 p.m.) and Nicholls State University (Oct. 1, 6 p.m.) and three Great West Football Conference games against UC Davis (Oct. 22, 1 p.m.), the University of Northern Colorado (Nov. 5, 1 p.m.), and South Dakota State University (Nov. 12, 6 p.m.).

Southern Illinois University is the defending champion of the Gateway Conference and was ranked No. 1 for nine straight weeks heading into the NCAA I-AA playoffs. NDSU plays the Salukis at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in Carbondale, Ill. Southern Illinois dropped a 35-31 decision to Eastern Washington in the first round. The Bison and Salukis will be meeting for the second time. Southern Illinois defeated NDSU 20-15 in Carbondale in 1963.
