  • Howdy Jacks!

Howdy from Texas, y'all. Great fan site. I'm just a Texas State Bobcat football fan who's wondering how many Jackrabbit fans are going/thinking of going to sunny San Marcos, Texas for the Oct 8th game this year. We would love to meet y'all, talk college football, and share some good tailgating drink and Bar-B-Q. San Marcos is less than an hour south of the capital (Austin) and also less than an hour north of the famous Alamo (San Antonio) for those of you interested in a little tourism. Also, San Marcos has one of the largest factory outlet malls in the country (it's really two malls with about 250 factory outlet stores combinded) for those who like shopping (out-of-state folks can get a sales tax refund via mail). Heres a decent article about San Marcos for those of you interested in coming:

Hopefully someday we'll get to play y'all in Brookings and get to enjoy your fine campus and town.

    Tux,
Thanks for the invitation, I may take you up on your offer. I'll be making my way to San Marcos from Dallas.
Check your schedule though, the game is Oct 1 (don't want to miss it by a week). Difficult to say how many fans from SDSU will be there, That is a fan charter flight game so there will be a bunch from that, plus the local Texas SDSU fans. I think the fans who fly down on the charter will spend the evening and night taking in the sights of San Antonio. Texas St. has a great campus and stadium and I'm really looking forward to playing the Bobcats. Should be a great game too!!

There will be a tailgate area designated for SDSU alumni and fans. The alumni in the area will be notified. Plus, the group of parents and fans who travel with the players will be at the tailgate, too.

Hey tux, thanks for posting.  I would LOVE to visit the beautiful state of Texas but I won't be making any long distance trips this fall.  Come back and give us updates on how the Bobcat's season is going.  Good luck until Oct. 1st.   ;D

Thanks for the correction Texas_Jacks_Fan, I think I need new glasses! I'm coming out of Dallas too, and I hope to meet y'all at the tailgate parties. I look foward to a good turnout, good food, and a spirited game. Going to San Antonio is a great idea if you have the time. For those of you who can make it, here are some more good links to the riverwalk and other tourist sites:

Thanks for the kind words Rabbit_FB_Alum, wish you could make to Texas. I'm hoping to visit Brookings and tour your great state should/when my bobcat play there in the future. As for this year, we're off to an inauspicious start - 3 injured o-linemen during workouts. I don't know how bad the injuries are - probably/hopefully minor. Other than that things are looking good, lots of pre-season spirit! Catch y'all later.
