FOUR RENEGADES NAMED 2006 DIVISION ALL-STAR NOMINEES

OTTAWA – Four Ottawa Renegades players were announced as 2005 Division nominees for the East and West All-Stars on Thursday.
Running back Josh Ranek and wide receiver Jason Armstead were named East selections for honours at their respective positions. Defensive end Anthony Collier and defensive back Korey Banks were also named among the top in the conference. Armstead also got the nod as the top special teams performer from the East.
Ranek finished the season second overall in the league (and first in the East) in yards from scrimmage (1,907). The 27-year-old product of South Dakota State University finished with a career-best 1,157 yards rushing (second in the East, fourth in the CFL).
Armstead, 26, established himself as one of the league's elite for the second-consecutive year. Twelve months after being the East nominee for the top special teams player, the former Ole Miss standout finished second in the league in combined yards (3,353), including a franchise-record 1,307 receiving yards.
Collier, who was a three-time Rogers-CFL lineman of the week in 2005 and won the lineman of the month honours in July, finished the campaign with 12 sacks – finishing second overall in the league.
Banks, meanwhile, led the CFL in interceptions (10) and took two back for touchdowns. Like Armstead and Collier, the 26-year-old was a second-year Renegade in 2005.
Ranek earned all-star nomination honours for the third time; Armstead for the second, while Collier and Banks took accolades in the department for the first time.
