Not a suprise to me. Any word on who might be brought in?

Again, these changes probably do not start with the AD, as the administration I believe feels this program needs to go higher and better. Also to be in the BSC, they need someone with a different perspective. There are a ton of candidates out there to pick from.

I sure the big measuring stick for the adminstration was their games with NDSU and SDSU. Both were resounding defeats for UNC. So from that analysis, you can measure progress towards being a bonfide D1AA team.

The UNC salaries were more of a surprise than the firing itself. I thought their coaches were paid much more than at SDSU. It looks to be about the same or maybe some higher, but not a huge difference.

It will be interesting to see who gets the baton at UNC.
I see one post on Anygiven Saturday, lists Mike Breske, a SDSU alum, as a candidate. I wonder how hungry he would be for this job. ???

he's not on the short list, but does anyone think Karl Ballard would be interested in this job? Close to Fort Collins, head coaching job, etc.

I doubt this comes as much of a suprise for most Bear fans. After following posts on the Bison, AGS, and hate to admit it, the UNC board, most bear fans were wanting him replaced. In most cases it might be difficult to find a quality replacement while you are in the transition period. With the move to the Big Sky, UNC should not have to worry about finding a top notch coach and turn their program around.

This is sad for me as a long time Bears fan. I always thought it might happen, but now that it really did, it's hard to take in. Very emotional right now. I feel bad especially for some of the assistant coaches because a lot of them played at UNC.
