  • Griz QB out

Over on the Griz Board it is reported that there D1 transfer QB Swogger broke a bone in his non throwing hand and will not play this week. Also there punter was injured in the Iowa game. Hate to see any injuries to these kids.....But we will take any advantage we can.....

Not entirely true. Swogger is listed as 'questionable' at this point. I dont believe that was mentioned on the Griz board.

The feeling is, if JS cant go, Soph. Cole Bergquist will do fine. This is his 3rd year in the system. 8-)

. . . . Another Carpenter, this one at the University of Montana, may get called on to provide extra duty this Saturday in the Grizzlies game against South Dakota State.

No official word has come from UM, but Dan Carpenter, the UM kicker from Helena, may take over the punting duties for senior Tyson Johnson, who limped off the field against Iowa. Johnson is also the holder for PATs and field goals and UM is expected to go with one of its back up quarterbacks for that job.

Carpenter was the punter for Helena High during his prep days

      Go State!

We put the QB out for the season when we lost in 1988. The thing about Montana is that they have maybe 3 deep quality people at each position. Injuries probably give the guy that is second on the depth charge the best opportunity to compete. I wanting for a win on Saturday, but injuries will probably not give us that. Its going to take a good game plan and all out effort.
