    Here's what we need.....

    [Remember the Wizard of Oz? He gave the scarecrow a diploma, the tin-man a ticking clock, etc etc. -- symbols. Well....]

    I think Stig should have a couple of guys in the Smokey-Bear hats standing with him during the game and at the end of the game, escorting him over to shake the hand of the losing coach. All the big southern schools appearing on TV have their state troopers escorting their coaches...

    SDSU: current leader of the GWFC and the ex officio leader of the Southland Conference.

    It's not just the big southern schools. The year I was at Delta State, which is a mid-sized DII school in Mississippi, there was always a police escort for the coach, home and away. If any of the UCA fans are still lurking they could mayb chime in. I'm guessing not all southern schools do this, but it seemed like every school Delta played had one.

    Maybe SDSU could just get Asst AD Rob Peterson in his cowboy boots, big buckle, throw a wide brimmed hat on him and that would suffice ;D

        It must be a down south thing. When the team traveled south the previous two years (Georgia Southern, Southern) the team bus had police escorts wherever it went. This also included the obligatory officer or two around Stig. Even on the sidelines during the game. This was definitely a little weird the first time.

        I can't quite remember exactly if the same thing happened at Texas State or not. I don't think there were any escorts down there.

          We have (had) our campus police escort the bus in a squad car on road trips when we traveled by bus. It paid off several times when there were breakdowns, accidents, etc. the officers could get on the radio and help the team get moving.

          These same campus police also are on the sideline and escort the coach to and from the mid-field handshake and TV/radio interviews. Just helps keep any ugly incidents, accidental or intentional, from breaking out.

          The campus officers also are used on road trips to help with curfew enforcement.

            Since SDSU is the "West Point of the Plains," perhaps we could have a couple ROTC students provide security for Coach Stig.
