  • New rankings

Didn't crack the top 25 (or the top 40??) here:

    http://www.donhansen.com/polls/ncaa1-aa.php

    notables:

    5 MONTANA 6-1
    6 NORTH DAKOTA STATE 6-1
    7 CAL POLY 6-1
    8 NORTHERN IOWA 5-2
    21 UC DAVIS 4-3
    36 CENTRAL ARKANSAS 5-3

There's also a couple sub .500 teams that are in the top 40. Considering two of our three losses are to the #5 and #8 teams in the country and we've beat the #7 and #36 teams, we "should" be getting some love...

    Re: New rankings

I think Hansen messed up.  I noticed this yesterday and sent them and e-mail.  They show Cal Poly as 6-1 and dropped us out (we were 32 last week).  I think someone looked at the score early and wrote down a Cal Poly win.  They are acutally 5-2 after losing to us.  It will be interesting to see what they show next week for records. I don't think Hansen is a poll but rather one persons rankings but I could be wrong.

        Hansen is a joke ;D

Jacks made #26 in both Coaches and Sports network

I'm not totally shocked, but if they beat Cal Davis they deserve their bid and will get it. 5 straight wins agains ranked opponents, 3 on the road, tough to keep them out. The first games still haunts them, but other teams seem to get a break for one game. Montana St. is rated and they lost to Chadron St. Not to mention our only other two losses were on the road versus a current #3 and #7 team!!!

          Re: New rankings

I had the Jacks in my top 25 this week. Had them in at #21. They deserve to be ranked and am honestly surprised with all the losses last weekend how more voters didn't put you in. Want to know why? Too many SID's vote in this poll that have teams slotted and move them up based on teams losing, so since SDSU was at #40 last week they didnt move them up enough. Voters should take into acct quality of win and also understand how well this team has played over the past four weeks. You win four quality games in a row, including beating the #4 team on the road - you deserve a ranking esp with all the teams losing above them.

Plenty of football left this season. Seven games in the books, four games left, two of those at home. There's a conference to be won. There's respect yet to be earned. The rankings will come.

            But first, UC Davis . . .

                    Re: New rankings

I do feel slighted, but would rather it be this way. If anything the team will not loose focus with a high ranking and will add fuel to the fire.

Much better to be top 25 at the end, that top 25 for only a short time.

A win this week would ensure top 25 and with Penn and SUU wins would set up the Fargo game to be a possible vault up the rankings at the end.

Personally, if we win the GWFC I could care less about where we are ranked.

I'm sure the team is focusing on the GWFC title as well. It would mean much more to them considering State hasn't had a title since the 60's!
