What happened to volleyball this year?

VERMILLION -- The South Dakota State University volleyball team's losing streak reached five as the Jackrabbits lost to the University of South Dakota in four games Friday night at the DakotaDome.

Game scores were 25-30, 32-30, 30-22 and 30-19 in favor of the Coyotes, who improved to 13-6 overall, 3-2 in North Central Conference play. SDSU remained winless in NCC play at 0-5 and moved to 10-9 overall.

Freshman Lindsey Gothe led SDSU with a double-double performance of a team-high 19 kills and 16 digs. Kim Bostrom added 17 kills, while Wendy O’Neill posted 16 kills.

Kristie Klusaw took over at setter early in the match and tallied 54 set assists. Sarah Simet led the Jackrabbit defense with 22 digs.

For USD, Lindsey Soukup contributed 16 kills and 11 digs. Becky Olson and Kristen Miller notched 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

Liz Selzer posted 50 assists and Jami Peterson added 10 digs.

Errors proved costly for the Jackrabbits as they committed 33 hitting errors compared to 23 for USD, and had nine more service errors.

SDSU again will attempt to crack the NCC win column Saturday with a 6 p.m. match at Nebraska-Omaha.

    Re: Volleyball

From what I gather this is a rebuilding year for SDSU. They dont have the veterans juniors and seniors this year. I believe thats the best explaination about what is going on.
