Jackrabbit men claim the NCC championship! ;D

S.D. State runners dominate NCC meet

FARGO, N.D. - South Dakota State's men's team won its fourth consecutive North Central Conference cross country title Saturday, while SDSU's Brad Lowery and Sheena Dauer were individual champs.

The University of South Dakota repeated as women's champs.

Lowery, a junior from Pierre, had a time of 24 minutes, 22.83 seconds over 8,000 meters. Teammate Greg Darbyshire was second in 24:42.17. SDSU's men had 40 points. MSU-Mankato and North Dakota State tied for second with 54.

Dauer, a senior from Springfield, Minn., covered 6,000 meters in 21:26.22, finishing 41 seconds ahead of runner-up Kinsey Coles of NDSU. Dauer is just the third female runner to capture three consecutive NCC titles, joing former Jackrabbits Kristin Asp (1981-83) and Kiri Johnson (1990-92). USD's women, helped by a 5-6-7 finish from Jen Feely, Amanda Roemen and Aimee Nielsen, won with 49 points. SDSU was second with 55 and NDSU third with 87.
