. . .Sara Hinrichs will join the Jackrabbits after attending the University of Wyoming last year. A 5-foot-5 libero/defensive specialist from Windsor, Colo., Hinrichs sat out the 2003 season as a redshirt. She will have four years of eligibility at SDSU.

"Sara will bring quickness, energy and consistent ball control to our game," Palileo said. "Her competitive nature, along with her great personality, will help make our team better. She will establish herself as one of our top defensive players and her experience at the Division I level will help her make a quick a transition to our level of play."

During her prep career at Windsor High School, Hinrichs was a team captain who helped lead her team to a district championship and state tournament appearance her senior season. A three-year letterwinner, she earned honorable mention all-conference recognition in 2002.

South Dakota State will make the move to NCAA Division I this season and will compete as an independent. The Jackrabbits are scheduled to open the 2004 campaign Sept. 3-4 at the Brigham Young University-Hawaii Classic in Laie, Hawaii.

It seems somewhat strange to see DI transfers as a lateral move, but that's what they are now for NDSU and SDSU. ;D

NDSU just got a transfer from Minnesota for men's track.
