Here is USDs take on the game:

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The fifth-ranked South Dakota men’s basketball team (10-3, 0-1) dropped a 92-79 decision to third-ranked and undefeated South Dakota State (17-0, 1-0) Friday night in front of 8,489 fans at Frost Arena in Brookings, S.D.

The Coyotes were unable to overcome the three-point shooting of SDSU as the Jacks tied a school record with 14 three-point field goals on 26 attempts (53.8 percent).

South Dakota was led offensively by senior forward Tommie King (Seattle, Wash.), who had 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting.

Junior guard Josh Mueller and sophomore forward Turner Trofholz each recorded double doubles for USD. Mueller (Hartford, S.D.) had 16 points and 11 assists, while Trofholz had 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Senior Derek Paben, who was starting his first game of the season, had 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 39 minutes of action.

The Coyotes got off to a quick start, taking an 11-3 lead two and half minutes into the game. SDSU answered though with an 11-3 run of its own over the next four minutes to tie the game up at 14-14 with 13:44 on the clock. Both teams stayed even until the 4:57 mark, playing to a 30-30 tie, but the Jacks would close out the half on a 9-2 run to take a 39-32 lead into the locker room.

South Dakota State pushed its lead to 11 at 43-32 early on in the second half, but the Coyotes responded with seven straight points in less than a minute to pull within four at 43-39 with 18:10 on the clock.

The Coyotes were down by only three with 13:47 to play at 51-48, before SDSU went on an 8-1 run over the next 90 seconds to take a 10-point 59-49 lead. USD cut the Jackrabbit lead to six at 63-57, but five straight points by South Dakota State pushed its lead back to double digits at 68-57 with nine minutes to play. The Coyotes could get no closer than seven points over the final nine minutes as SDSU went on to win its 27th-consecutive game in Frost Arena.

South Dakota State was led in scoring by Derrick Schantz, who scored 21 of his game-high 26 points in the first half. Schantz was 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point line.

For the game, SDSU shot 51.5 percent from the floor on 34-of-66 shooting. The Coyotes were 48.5 percent from the floor (33-of-68) for the game, including a 62.5 percentage in the second half (20-of-32). At the foul line, South Dakota hit just 5-of-15 from the charity stripe, while the Jacks were 10-of-14 (71.4 percent).

    Re: Lets go Augie

Confession time...I went to SDSU...my best friend from high school went to Augie. Then went to USD for graduate school.

Thankfully he's not much of a sports fan. But then, look at what he had to root for.

Hm, maybe we need a Rabbit Smack category on the site...
