    From the Argus site:

    SDSU gets verbal commitment

BASKETBALL: South Dakota State's first men's basketball recruit for the 2005-06 season is Bob Bilitz, a senior at West Lutheran High in Minneapolis, who gave Coach Scott Nagy a verbal commitment this week. The 6-foot-10, 200-pound senior averaged 12 points, 9.6 rebounds and five blocks in 2004 and was named the MVP of the Chicago Jam-Fest and Shootout this summer.

Tall, a little slight it seems.  Nice addition for the future.

There are a series of posts on Mark Engen under basketball recruiting, about the fourth thread down. Look about 2/3s of the way down on page four of that thread for the first post on April 30.

This athlete was apparently in Brookings for the Cereal Bowl game. I had a brief conversation with Coach Nagy after the game at the Backyard Social.  He mentioned an athlete from Denison but could not talk about him by name.  He also told me he has oral committments from two 6 ' 10 guys also nameless due to NCAA regs. Both are in need of redshirting but will be great players. So 2005-06 is already falling into place.

Coach Nagy said SDSU is going to be very young this coming season, so its going to take a while. Losing Andy Moeller and other seniors is going to leave a leadership gap.  I forgot to ask about Matt Jones condition so sorry everyone.

No need to be axnious about our BB program, we are on track. ;D ;D ;D ;D

              Re: 2005-06 Recruits

We should see signings from Bob Bilitz 6'10 of Western Lutheran in Minneapolis and Mark Engen 6'8 of Red Rock Central MN during the early signing period in November. Thomas Bassett 6'5 forward out of Denison Iowa is just a Junior and won't be able to sign until next spring. Word is there could be a third signing next month.
              Stayed tuned!
