I like seeing UND also having 2 top 10 prospects. Makes them coming to The Valley seem even better knowing the talent level is there!

Zimmer made the sports talk on Tuesday in Sioux Falls. The first 13 minutes revolve around the Jackrabbits football, MVFC, MVC, and talk about grad transfers.

Nick DeLuca from the Bison is the perfect NFL size,6'3" 248, for a LB to play in the NFL .Most his size and athletic ability are taken by the FBS schools. The Bison have a recruiting machine going on right now with winning so many Nat.'l Championships in a row. Something we are building for, it can be a slow process it seems. We'll get there eventually, especially with the players we have recruited lately, just got to put it all together and have that one breakout season to get to Frisco. Everything becomes easier with success working for you.

The thing with DeLuca coming out of high school is that he was overshadowed by Josh Banderas in the 2013 Nebraska prep class. Banderas was one of the first Husker recruits for that class and he was extremely fast. (He was one of the top hurdlers in Nebraska in 2013.) DeLuca was a football player and I don't remember him focusing on other sports. The top three linebackers in the state that year were Banderas, DeLuca, and Luke McNitt. (McNitt would have jumped at an offer from SDSU or NDSU, but his best scholarship offer was from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. He's the returning starting fullback for the Huskers this year. He started at QB his freshman year for UNK and then walked on for the Huskers the following year.)

When I talked with McNitt and fellow Kearney High all-state lineman, Jackson Gannon, they both said the best football player in Nebraska that year was DeLuca. They both thought Banderas was soft and that nobody hit harder than DeLuca. It just shows how projections of players from their junior seasons can have more of an impact on recruiting than what senior seasons do. Lincoln Southwest had "the two best prep players" that year in Banderas and Christian Lacouture. Lacouture moved to Lincoln from Texas for his senior season so that he could get ready to play for the Huskers. He changed his mind on his commitment and ended up at LSU. Lincoln Southwest ended up with a 6-4 season and was a non-factor in the playoffs. Millard North went undefeated and were state champions.

            Back to Goedert...

I see that SDSU Strength tweeted that Goedert repeated as the SDSU Football Lifter of the year. His numbers are impressive!

            Power Clean: 363 lbs.
            Squat: 540 lbs.
            Bench Press: 375 lbs.
            Vertical: 35"
            Standing Long Jump: 9' 9.5"
            Pro Agility: 4.21 seconds
            40 Yard Dash: 4.69 seconds

Back those numbers up with his on field production and high light real catches....

According to here and here, Rob Gronkowski had a 33.5" vertical, ran a 4.68 second 40, and a 4.47 20 yard shuttle.

Goedert matches up quite well on the numbers, and the eye test on the field comps pretty good too.

Idk if this has been posted before, but it's a scouting site that makes the Gronk comparison as well and projects him to be drafted in as high as the late teens in the 1st round.

Only beef with article is that he goes down easily. I seem to remember him running through several would be tacklers and earning 10 yds after catch and contact. Look forward to a stat stuffing season from the Jacks offense.

He does go down easily compared to Gronk.......who doesn't. I think he will make more yards after the catch this year.

With the 2017 draft over with, a lot of draft specialists are looking at 2018 prospects and are starting to label Goedert as the #1 TE for the 2018 draft. If he has a big year with some splash plays (both of which are pretty much a certainty), I could see him going in the late 1st round or early 2nd round in a year with an overall weak TE class.

With the numbers he has and the big play ability he's consistently demonstrated, I'd be surprised if he didn't end up as a first round pick. He's a seriously elite athlete.

Yes...but I believe defenses will key on him this year and will really be able to contain him.......I'm sorry I can't even try to type that without laughing out loud and a straight face. the Beast of Britton will always get his!

Goedert has such good recieving skills that many people forget about his blocking ability. He has been a beast om the weight room each of his previous off seasons and is the total package.

I hope they do key on him and Weineke, double one or the other or both...I'd be perfectly content with the running game popping of 6-7 yd runs consistently.

I agree on his blocking, someone had a comment on twitter that he lacks blocking ability..., please...we are very fortunate that both he and Jake have excellent downfield blocking ability and 86 does everything needed as a down TE, teams aren't looking for a Jimmy Kleinsasser mauling TE anymore.
