  • Watch Lusignan Live at Nationals

The NCAA Cross Country Championships can be watched live...see the site link below. State's Trent Lusignan is shooting for All-America status and I think the sky's the limit for the Junior. He continues to improve and he's running with a lot of confidence in the big races. The race starts at 11:00 Central (noon Eastern) and is run at Terre Haute, IN.

Watch the race on this link from the NCAA site:

Lusignan is in 61st after 3000m. He is in a large pack at the moment only 5 seconds out of 20th. Top 40 are all american.

5000m splits are in. Lusignan is in 31st place at 15:01. 11th place is 15:00. That pack should start to split over the next 3000m (8k is the next update).

                  Unofficial time for Trent: 30:18.8
                  Winner's time was 29:41.1.

That's the most outstanding athletic finish for any Jackrabbit, any sport, this year. Lusignan earned and deserves some big headlines.

That is an amazing finish, and shows the great steps the program has grown under Coach DeHaven.

                        Congrats to Trent!

Re: Watch Lusignan Live at Nationals

At last week's Midwest Regional, Lusignan finished second to Tulsa's O'Hare -- a great runner (from Scotland). Today, O'Hare finished 50th -- O'Hare is a real stud but just shows how tough and unforgiving Cross Country can be when a runner has an off day. So many things can go wrong.

Course conditions were poor for today's race. It was very windy and very cold. The course had some muddy spots.

Lusignan's splits show he once again ran an intelligent race as he did at the Midwest Regionals.

                          Wow. Go Jacks!

For Jackrabbit fans only casually acquainted with Cross Country results etc...think about this: All of the names you read in the top 15 to 20 have an excellent shot to run for their country (many in the top 15-20 are from foreign countries) in the next Olympics.
