  • Ill State 55, Central Mo State 54

DII Central Mo State (of the MIAA) gets nipped 55-54 by MVFC Ill State Redbirds as the Redbirds get a two-point conversion with less than a minute on the clock remaining.

Not exactly the kind of start for the season Illinois State wanted.

CMSU is a conference mate of U of NE-Omaha, Truman State, Fort Hayes State, Emporia State and others.

i have the link to D2 Message board and the game thread where you read some interesting details about the game. The Redbirds lead most of the first half by 10 to 13 pts but never could put the game away. CMSU hung in there and apparently the field condition was not the best due to rains in Normal. Of course the field factor would affect both teams, but the thing that hurt the redbirds is they let CMSU hang around and even took the lead 54-47 with about five minutes to go in fourth.

If ISU gets drubbed next week playing B10, Northwestern, they could come to Brookings with a big chip on their shoulders or they could come kind of humbled.

It will be an interesting game.

But...but...Illinois State has 12 FBS transfers.....

Goes to show you, that doesn't mean much.

Always remember there is a reason they are transfers. BCS All-Conference players they were not.

I thinking SDSU will be able to make some real serious defensive stops and the score for both teams will no be in the fifties. Apparently these transfers are still learning the ISU system on both sides of the ball.
