  • XC Men picked top 15 in Region

The SDSU Men's cross country team is picked 13th in the Midwest Region by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

We're also favored in pre-season voting to repeat as the Summit League champs.

Here's the story in the Rapid City Journal: LINK

For the actual ranking in each region, from the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association site: LINK

It's just another form of a poll but the Jackrabbits didn't get there by accident. The team that took the Summit title at favored Southern Utah's home course (think: altitude) has returned!

Could be quite a year for the CC men! Championships are at IUPUI on October 30. GO JACKS!

This is very interesting. I think we are in a very tough region, with about 9 or more Big 10 and Big 12 schools rated ahead of us. If you look at the South Central region. Lamar, Stephan F Austin and McNeese are rated high, and they have only three big schools ahead of them. This is looking through the FBS/FCS lens in terms of competition.

Jacks open up the season this Saturday at the University of North Dakota's Ron Pynn Invitational against hosts UND and Seattle University. The men are expected to cruise to an easy victory while the women will have more of a challenge in host UND.
